Role Description:
The Baby Room Leader is a full-time, on-site role based at our Norbury nursery. This role leads the baby room team to deliver safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate care for infants, ensuring daily routines such as feeding, changing, sleep, and play are managed with consistency and sensitivity.

The Baby Room Leader is a full-time, on-site role based at our Norbury nursery. This role leads the baby room team to deliver safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate care for infants, ensuring daily routines such as feeding, changing, sleep, and play are managed with consistency and sensitivity.
The Baby Room Leader plans and implements age-appropriate activities aligned with the strengths-based and forest school ethos, documents observations, and contributes to individual learning plans.
The role includes coordinating staff schedules, mentoring and supporting colleagues, maintaining high standards of safeguarding, hygiene, and health and safety, and building positive relationships with families through regular communication.
The Baby Room Leader also contributes to room planning, continuous improvement initiatives, and regulatory compliance, working closely with the Nursery Manager and wider team.

Qualifications

  • Early years expertise and childcare knowledge, including experience working with infants and a strong understanding of child development from birth to two years.
  • Leadership and team coordination skills, with the ability to supervise staff, delegate tasks effectively, and foster a collaborative, supportive environment.
  • Safeguarding, health and safety, and first aid knowledge, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining safe, hygienic, and compliant childcare practices.
  • Communication and relationship-building skills, including clear written and verbal communication and the ability to engage warmly with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Organisational and planning skills, with experience designing age-appropriate activities, managing routines, and keeping accurate records and documentation.
  • Relevant early years qualification (e.g., Level 3 or equivalent in Early Years Education/Childcare) and familiarity with UK early years frameworks and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work on-site full time in Norbury, demonstrating reliability, flexibility, and a positive, child-centered approach.
  • Experience in forest school or outdoor learning environments, or a strong interest in developing practice in these areas, is an advantage.
