Responsibilities

  • Teach Drama across Key Stage 3, GCSE and A‑level, using AQA specifications.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that foster confidence, creativity and resilience in students.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Drama and peripatetic Drama teachers to support pupils through external qualifications.
  • Organise and direct large‑scale productions, showcases and performances.
  • Monitor, assess and report on student progress, ensuring continuity and progression in learning.
  • Support the pastoral care of students as a Form Tutor, including monitoring attendance, behaviour and academic progress.
  • Contribute to the school’s enrichment programme and extra‑curricular activities, including theatre trips and clubs.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • A good honours degree in Drama or a related subject.
  • PGCE or equivalent qualification with QTS.
  • Experience teaching Drama up to and including A‑level.
  • A strong record of directing school productions or performances.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and the ability to inspire students of all abilities.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Desirable:

  • Specialist qualifications or experience in areas such as technical theatre, musical theatre, LAMDA, or examination board delivery.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in Drama education or theatre practice.
  • Experience of leading cross‑department projects or whole‑school productions.
