Job Introduction
We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Graduate Consultant to come and join us here at Lucion Delta-Simons as part of our friendly and supportive Water Team. We are looking for someone who is passionate about flood risk and the water environment. You will be responsible for the factual and interpretative input to projects and assignments including assessment of data, report writing and engaging with sub-contractors where necessary. This is a full-time, permanent role and we are looking for someone to join us in our Manchester, Lincoln or London offices.
Responsibilities
- Completion of Flood Risk Appraisals for our investor and pension fund clients assessing the risk from all sources of flooding and providing practical mitigation measures, recommendations and commercial advice.
- Completion of Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies to support planning applications.
- Completion of other water related projects for existing and emerging markets such as ESG.
- Producing accurate flood risk GIS maps in QGIS.
- Producing concept drainage plans in AutoCAD.
- Running with projects from inception to completion with support from your line manager and project lead to develop a wide range of technical, project management and commercial skills.
Essential Criteria
- Bachelors degree in relevant subject such as Geography or Environmental Science, or demonstration of equivalent qualification or experience.
- Competent at using Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to learn new skills quickly.
- Having a growth mindset, with a proactive and resourceful approach.
- Be self-motivated and able to work under pressure, as well as prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Ability and willingness to learn from experience and take on greater responsibility.
- Commitment and desire to develop personal CPD.
- Sound communication and personal effectiveness skills.
Desirable Criteria
- Graduate (or equivalent) member of a Professional Body.
- Experience of environmental consultancy work is desirable, particularly in flood risk and drainage or similar water sectors.
- Experience of using GIS.
- Experience of AutoCAD.
