Flood Risk & Drainage Consultant
Location: Hybrid – London, Leeds or Manchester

Our Water Services team delivers expert flood risk and drainage advice to support investment decisions, planning applications, and environmental assessments. We’re proud to work across a wide range of sectors, helping clients meet planning requirements, manage flood risk, and design resilient infrastructure solutions.
We are now looking for a Flood Risk & Drainage Consultant to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of our projects, while helping to shape the future of our growing service area.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver flood risk and drainage projects from inception to completion
- Complete Flood Risk Appraisals, Flood Risk Assessments, and Drainage Strategies for planning and investment purposes
- Support new and emerging projects including nutrient neutrality and ESG-led development
- Produce high-quality flood risk mapping using QGIS (or similar GIS software)
- Draft concept drainage plans in AutoCAD
- Liaise with clients, statutory bodies, and internal stakeholders to progress projects effectively
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of planning policy, technical guidance, and best practice
The Ideal Candidate
- Degree in Geography, Environmental Science, or related subject
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in flood risk and drainage consultancy
- Strong technical knowledge of UK flood risk and drainage policy
- Experienced with liaising with clients and regulators
- Proficient in QGIS (or equivalent), AutoCAD, and MicroDrainage
- Commercially aware and confident working to deadlines
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn
