Asbestos surveying isn’t about racing around sites, ticking boxes and calling it a day. It’s about accuracy, professional judgement and knowing that the information you collect can make a real difference to people’s safety. At Lucion, our surveyors help clients understand asbestos risk, manage it properly and keep projects moving safely and compliantly. Around Market Harborough and across Leicestershire, you’ll work across a wide variety of buildings and projects where your expertise genuinely matters.

We’re now looking for an Asbestos Surveyor to join our growing Hazardous Materials team, based around Market Harborough, Leicestershire.

What You’ll Be Doing (And Why It Matters)

This is a proper hands-on surveying role. You’ll be out and about across Market Harborough, Leicestershire and the surrounding area, working on everything from commercial buildings and construction projects to public-sector estates and other client sites. Your attention to detail will directly support safer buildings, better decision-making and compliant project delivery.

  • Carry out all disciplines of asbestos surveying and inspection, including Management, Refurbishment and Demolition Surveys, plus asbestos in the ground.
  • Travel across Market Harborough, Leicestershire and the surrounding areas to visit client sites.
  • Collect accurate factual and numerical site data using a phablet device, producing high-quality reports through our award-winning NexGen system.
  • Work in line with all relevant asbestos legislation and guidance, including HSG264, HSE requirements and construction regulations.
  • Maintain your personal QHSE documentation and follow our internal assurance processes.
  • Provide a professional, friendly service to clients, answering questions and offering clear advice and interpretation where needed.
  • Communicate clearly with clients, colleagues and contractors — because good surveying is about more than collecting samples.
  • Deliver accurate, consistent work without taking shortcuts.

In short: reliable surveying, clear reporting, professional judgement and getting the important details right. Every. Single. Time.

About You

You understand that asbestos surveying comes with responsibility — and you take that responsibility seriously. You’ll ideally:

  • Hold BOHS P402, an RSPH equivalent qualification, or a Certificate of Competence.
  • Have a good working knowledge of HSG264 (The Survey Guide).
  • Hold a full UK manual driving licence.
  • Be based in or around Market Harborough, Leicestershire or the surrounding areas.
  • Be comfortable travelling across Leicestershire and the wider East Midlands, and occasionally further afield.
  • Be flexible when occasional out-of-hours work is required.
  • Be confident working independently while contributing effectively to a wider team.
  • Bring a strong work ethic and a practical, professional approach to site work.
  • Be someone clients and colleagues can rely on.

Basically, you know your stuff, you care about doing a good job and you don’t need someone standing over your shoulder to make sure it gets done properly.

What You’ll Get in Return

We look after our people so they can focus on doing great work. Alongside a welcoming, professional environment and a role that genuinely matters, you’ll benefit from:

  • £1,000 joining bonus for experienced Asbestos Surveyors and Analysts who apply directly to Lucion.
  • Paid travel time contributing to your core 40-hour week — typically worth around £3,000–£4,000 per year.
  • Working away allowances for short- and long-term assignments.
  • Healthcare Cash Plan to help with everyday healthcare costs.
  • Techscheme vouchers towards commuting or home technology.
  • Reward platform including wellbeing support, cycle-to-work and discounts at 800+ retailers.
  • Enhanced family leave — because life doesn’t stop when you leave site.
  • Option to buy extra holiday — because sometimes you just need another day off.
  • Training & development to keep your career moving forward.
  • Flexible working, backed by a business that genuinely cares about its people.
  • Managers who understand site work, value your expertise and trust you to get the job done.
