The Dunes Hotel is a vibrant 40-bedroom hotel located in Barrow-in-Furness, where we host a range of events and weddings throughout the year. Alongside our sister property, Townhouse.211, a vibrant bar and restaurant with hotel boutique rooms. We are now seeking an ambitious, confident and commercially driven Sales & Events Coordinator to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who loves people, thrives on building relationships, and is just as passionate about selling events as they are about delivering unforgettable experiences.
While weddings and events remain at the heart of the role, there is a strong emphasis on proactive sales, outbound activity and growing business across both properties.
Sales & Business Development- Working closely with the Sales Manager to become fully integrated into all sales processes across weddings, corporate events, conferences, parties and private hire for both The Dunes Hotel and Townhouse.211.
- Actively generating new business through outbound sales, including cold calling, follow-up calls, email outreach and networking.
- Proactively targeting corporate clients, local businesses, event organisers and agencies to drive conference, meeting and private hire revenue.
- Responding to inbound enquiries promptly, accurately and professionally, converting leads into confirmed business.
- Conducting venue show rounds with confidence, energy and product knowledge, tailoring each experience to the client.
- Managing follow-ups, sending proposals, contracts and T&Cs, securing deposits and accurately building the forward events diary.
- Maintaining accurate records within the booking and reception systems, ensuring all event and client information is logged correctly.
- Working collaboratively with reception and operations teams to ensure smooth handovers and diary management.
- Contributing ideas to marketing activity, packages, promotions and sales campaigns to help grow awareness and revenue across both properties.
- Acting as the main point of contact for clients throughout their planning journey, responding with warmth, professionalism and creativity.
- Conducting full planning meetings for weddings and events, covering all details including suppliers, timings, layouts, food, drink and logistics.
- Gathering and managing all event information such as guest numbers, table plans, entertainment details and special requirements.
- Producing detailed event function sheets and planning documents and presenting these in weekly Heads of Department (HOD) meetings.
- Working closely with kitchen, front of house and operations teams to plan staffing, timings and set-ups.
- Supporting the planning and delivery of seasonal and revenue-driving events such as Christmas party nights, themed events, Valentine’s packages and more.
- Welcoming clients, couples and families ahead of their event, ensuring they feel confident, relaxed and well-informed.
- Overseeing event set-up to ensure spaces are prepared exactly to client specifications.
- Acting as the lead coordinator on event and wedding days, liaising with clients, guests, suppliers and the wider team.
- Ensuring both properties are presented to the highest standard at all times, from first viewing through to event delivery.
- Working alongside front of house teams during events to ensure seamless service and exceptional guest experience.
- Supporting operational departments during quieter event periods, with full cross-training provided.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with trusted suppliers across both properties.
- Coordinating entertainment, production and third-party services where required.
- Assisting with the planning and delivery of wedding showcases, open days and sales events.
- Ensuring all relevant documentation and compliance information is obtained from third-party suppliers.
- Being fully cross-trained across departments including reception, food & beverage and operations to support the business when required.
- Taking a flexible, team-first approach to support service delivery during busy periods and events.
- Previous experience in weddings, events, hospitality sales or coordination is desired.
- Strong sales mindset with confidence in outbound calls, meetings and relationship-building.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Confident, warm and professional manner with clients and colleagues.
