Although the team may be considered relatively small with circa 25 colleagues, the devil is in the detail – our highly skilled technical team are pitted against some of the construction industry’s toughest testing challenges, including making sure the roof of Wembley Stadium doesn’t collapse!
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Technical Team Leader to oversee the day‑to‑day technical performance and quality output of our Structures Test Laboratory. In this key position, you will ensure projects are delivered right first time, on budget, and to the highest technical standards. You will work closely with the Operations Manager, Principal Engineer, Business Manager and our clients to define project scopes and translate them into clear, actionable work packages for your engineering team. This role will suit someone with strong technical expertise, excellent leadership skills, and a practical, solution‑focused approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret client requirements and relevant standards, translating them into concise work packages.
- Carry out physical tests and produce high‑quality technical reports.
- Review and approve test reports to ensure accuracy and alignment with project goals.
- Work with the Principal Engineer to remain up‑to‑date with legislation and develop technical training plans for the team.
- Collaborate with Operations and set‑up teams to plan resource allocation.
- Provide practical guidance to engineers delivering project outcomes.
- Lead and develop a dynamic engineering team (approximately eight people).
- Schedule work packages to maximise efficiency and meet client deadlines.
- Undertake any additional duties reasonably required by the company.
Qualifications
About You
- Degree in Mechanical, Construction or Civil Engineering.
Experience
- Demonstrable experience within construction, building or testing environments.
- Proven experience in leading teams and managing people.
