Purpose of the Role

This is a rare opportunity to be at the forefront of computational materials science‑pushing boundaries, solving complex industrial challenges, and shaping the future of advanced ceramics.

As a Computational Modeller, you will contribute to cutting‑edge research across multiple workstreams, including modelling sintering processes, kiln environments, stress development, crack formation and propagation, and the creation of digital twins for real‑world manufacturing.

You’ll join a dynamic, forward‑thinking team committed to driving transformational change in materials and process innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance Lucideon’s material and process modelling capabilities using COMSOL and other finite element tools.
  • Create bespoke models and contribute to the development of innovative modelling platforms.
  • Work closely with industrial and academic partners to build models that support manufacturing process optimisation.
  • Interpret modelling outputs to help solve complex engineering and materials challenges across the sector.
  • Act as a champion for computational modelling‑helping clients and partners understand its technical and financial benefits.
  • Support the development of digital twins focused on sintering and ceramic production processes.

About You

You will ideally hold an MSc or Ph D in a science or engineering discipline, with experience in computational modelling or materials processing.

You’ll bring strong technical capability in finite element analysis—preferably with COMSOL—and experience in areas such as thermal, mechanical, electrical (AC/DC), or multiphysics simulation.

  • A solid understanding of materials science (experience in advanced ceramics is an advantage).
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills. The ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both specialists and non‑specialists.
