Are you an experienced Analytical Chemist with a passion for materials characterisation and a strong technical background in X-ray Fluorescence analysis? About the Role
As part of our Analysis and Evaluation delivery team at Lucideon, you’ll play a key role in ensuring tests are carried out on time, to exacting quality standards, and in full compliance with UKAS and ISO 17025 requirements.
You’ll apply your expertise in XRF analysis to perform elemental analysis across a wide range of material types, while also contributing to method development, calibration, and validation projects. Beyond day-to-day testing, you’ll help drive forward improvements and innovations in XRF techniques, understanding not just how tests are performed, but why results matter, how they can be interpreted, and how methods can evolve to meet new challenges.
Lucideon has recently moved to a state-of-the-art facility in Stone, Staffordshire, offering a brilliant working environment with world-class laboratories. Here, we don’t just perform tests, we solve problems for clients across industries including nuclear, healthcare, energy, construction, and advanced materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform elemental analysis using XRF on a wide variety of materials to a high standard.
- Demonstrate an understanding of XRF theory to support method development, validation, and continuous improvement of XRF capabilities.
- Carry out quality checks and instrument calibrations in line with UKAS and Quality Assurance requirements.
- Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and equipment maintenance
- Handle internal and external queries professionally and in a timely manner
- Ensure accurate record keeping, reporting, and documentation of all work
- Support colleagues across the wider Chemistry team, working flexibly to meet client and business demands
Who You Are
You’ll have hands‑on experience working in an analytical chemistry laboratory with a proven background in XRF analysis, ideally with the ability to apply your knowledge to provide meaningful insights to our clients.
You’ll also bring curiosity, organisation, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment where accuracy and innovation go hand in hand.
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven experience working in an analytical chemistry laboratory, with hands‑on expertise in XRF analysis.
- Ability to interpret, optimise, and apply analytical outcomes to support problem‑solving and continuous improvement
- Experience in method development and validation.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines
- Good written and verbal communication
- Diligent attention to detail and record keeping
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general data handling
- A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with a passion for continuous improvement
Qualifications
- A Levels, BTEC Level 3, or equivalent
- BSc in Chemistry or a related discipline advantageous
- Evidence of practical experience in XRF testing is essential.
