Position: DevOps Engineer (AWS/Kubernetes Focus)

Location: Remote/1 day per week onsite (tech hubs)

Duration: 6 months (initial contract)

Rate: £500 per day (Inside IR35, umbrella)

Security Clearance: Active SC Clearance or SC Eligible

IR35 Status: Inside IR35

Role Overview

Senior DevOps Engineer to support and operate Kubernetes platforms (EKS preferred) within AWS environments. Focus on IaC, CI/CD automation, and troubleshooting for agile delivery in public sector projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and support Kubernetes clusters, with strong EKS experience.
  • Manage AWS core services and implement cloud security fundamentals.
  • Deliver infrastructure using Terraform; automate with Ansible.
  • Build and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies.
  • Handle Linux/Unix ops, Docker/container management, and Scripting.
  • Implement monitoring with CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana.
  • Troubleshoot cloud, networking, and pipeline issues.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Kubernetes: Strong ops/support, EKS preferred.
  • AWS: Hands-on core services + security fundamentals.
  • Terraform: Strong IaC delivery expertise.
  • Ansible: Very good for config mgmt and workflows.
  • GitLab/CI-CD: Strong pipeline building in Agile.
  • Linux/Docker: Solid skills, Scripting, registry mgmt.
  • Monitoring: CloudWatch/Prometheus/Grafana exp.
  • Troubleshooting: Cloud infra, networking, pipelines.

Desirable

  • Public sector delivery experience.
  • Agile/Scrum methodology exposure.
