We’re delivering a large-scale VMware ESXi to Microsoft Hyper-V migration and require a migration/server engineer to support the build and staging part of the project. This is a hands-on, Glasgow based position.

  • Build, pre-stage and configure Hyper-V environments from the Glasgow office.
  • Deliver end-to-end ESXi to Hyper-V migrations across multiple UK sites.
  • Execute on-site cutovers, including final migration and production go-live.
  • Perform VM backup, restore and V2V migrations (Acronis or similar tools).
  • Configure virtual networking (vSwitches, VLANs, IP addressing).
  • Rebuild servers including RAID configuration and Windows Server installs.
  • Carry out Active Directory health checks and support domain services.
  • Troubleshoot boot issues, driver conflicts, networking and post-migration issues.
  • Validate infrastructure, applications and services before handover.
  • Work to runbooks, change control and tight migration windows (incl. OOH work).

Strong experience across VMware ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V. Solid understanding of Windows Server, AD and core networking fundamentals. Must be happy to travel to European sites for cutovers (valid, in-date Passport).
