Overview:
We are seeking a passionate, self-driven and talented designer to join our team in creating exciting and memorable gameplay experiences on a new title. You will be working with Gameplay Programmers, artists and audio designers to deliver features and systems. This role will be responsible for developing and overseeing many aspects of the game, including features, mechanics & systems.
What you’ll do:
- Create clear and concise design documentation and visual materials that describe content, mechanics, systems, and features.
- Implement gameplay and game structure through the use of UE4 Blueprint visual scripting.
- Help determine the conventions, processes and practices used to create the product from inception to final balancing.
- Support and expand the game through its post-launch life.
- Design, prototype and own key gameplay systems.
- Pro-actively contribute to the quality of the entire game.
- Help assess the progress, quality and user friendliness of the game throughout its life via a range of methods.
What we’re looking for from you:
- Shipped multiple titles as a designer.
- Strong knowledge and experience with level editing tools and scripting (Unreal Engine or similar).
- Awareness of emerging trends and mechanics that inform modern multiplayer game design.
- Ability to analyse mechanics and apply them to current game design.
- Experience in third and first person action titles.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including verbal and written skills.
- Strong experience working on a third person shooter.
What can you expect during the Interview Process:
Our interview process typically takes 2-4 weeks depending on availability and is usually made up of 3 stages:
- 1st stage (45 minutes) – An informal chat to discuss your experience and working history relating to the position with members of our Design team and our Head of Talent. In return, we will provide a full overview of the role, life at the studio as well as answer any questions you may have.
- Second interview (45 minutes) – Second Interview with our Creative Director and Head of Talent. This role will be focussed on the project and your skills and experience. You will have the opportunity to understand how our design teams work and the overall structure of our teams.
- Final interview (30 minutes) – A final Interview with our Studio Head and Studio Production Director. This will be a chance for you to get to know the Senior Management team and all the things that make Lucid, Lucid. You will have a lot of opportunities to ask any questions about the studio and culture.
