Reporting directly to, and working closely with, the Managing Director, this is a key management team appointment.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for leading the finance function, improving financial reporting, strengthening systems and controls, and providing the commercial insight required to support profitable and sustainable growth.
The Job The Financial Controller will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely production of financial information, while also playing a wider role in supporting operational and commercial decision-making across the business.
Leading the finance function and overseeing all internal reporting and accounting activity.
Producing timely, accurate and meaningful management accounts, reports, budgets and forecasts.
Ensuring strong financial controls are in place across cashflow, invoicing, procurement, stock, payments and receipts.
Improving reporting around margins, profitability, job costing and business performance.
Making full use of the companys accounting and ERP systems, including Dynamics 365.
Supporting the Managing Director and management team with commercial analysis and strategic decision-making.
Reviewing and improving financial systems, processes and procedures across the business.
Providing leadership and support to the finance and administrative team.
Managing relationships with banks, insurers, external accountants and other professional advisers.
Overseeing payroll, pensions, insurance arrangements, tax return preparation and other finance-related compliance matters.
Supporting the business in identifying opportunities for funding, investment and future growth.
This is a hands-on role, but also one with real strategic scope.

The Person The successful candidate will be an experienced finance professional who is accurate, commercially aware and confident working as part of a management team.
They will bring strong financial discipline, but also the ability to challenge, improve and influence how the business operates.
A professional finance qualification such as CIMA, ACCA or ACA, with at least three years recent post-qualification experience.
Applications will also be considered from experienced non-qualified accountants with a strong and relevant finance background.
Experience working in a commercially focused business environment.
The ambition and capability to move into a more strategic finance role as the business continues to grow.
Strong experience preparing and presenting management accounts, financial reports, budgets, forecasts and business performance data.
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial information clearly.
Good working knowledge of accounting software systems, ideally including Dynamics 365.
Experience improving financial systems, controls, processes and reporting.
The confidence to challenge existing ways of working and implement positive change.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels across the business.
A positive, proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to meet strict reporting deadlines.
