We are seeking dedicated, empathetic, and motivated Support Workers to join our team supporting young people aged 15-19 transitioning from care into independent living. This is a highly rewarding role focused on empowering young people to develop the confidence, resilience, and practical life skills needed to successfully move into adulthood and live independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide practical and emotional support to young people leaving care
- Assist with developing independent living skills including cooking, budgeting, cleaning, and tenancy management
- Support with education, training, employment, and career planning
- Build positive, trusting relationships to promote emotional wellbeing and confidence
- Encourage engagement with community resources and social opportunities
- Work alongside social workers, personal advisors, and external professionals
- Maintain accurate records, support plans, and progress notes
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive outcomes for all young people
- Support young people through challenging behaviours, crisis situations, and emotional difficulties where required
Requirements
- Experience working with young people, care leavers, or vulnerable adolescents preferred
- NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care / Children & Young People (desirable)
- Understanding of challenges faced by care-experienced young people
- Strong communication, mentoring, and relationship-building skills
- Patient, resilient, and proactive approach
- Full UK Driving Licence preferred but not essential
- Enhanced DBS required (or willingness to obtain)
