We are seeking a consultant Landscape Architect / Landscape Planner to join our Landscape Planning team who are at the forefront of landscape and seascape planning in the UK. You will have the opportunity to work with and learn from industry experts in a range of fields, which include:

  • Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA)
  • Landscape character assessment
  • Landscape sensitivity studies
  • Landscape planning research
  • Landscape design, mitigation, and implementation
  • Green infrastructure plans and implementation strategies
  • Planning for future landscapes and responding to climate change
  • Landscape photography

Key Responsibilities

  • Work on projects such as LVIA within Environmental Impact Assessments for renewable energy, housing, employment and other development types.
  • Conduct routeing studies for electricity infrastructure projects.
  • Perform landscape character assessments for local planning authorities.
  • Carry out landscape sensitivity studies for housing, employment and renewable energy development.
  • Participate in all project stages from tendering through to completion, providing support to senior staff.
  • Conduct site assessments, report writing, and production of graphics with extensive fieldwork opportunities across the UK and abroad.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Early career individuals (possibly with a year out placement or similar experience) are encouraged to apply.
  • We accept candidates with accredited landscape qualifications as well as those from related fields such as planning or geography who can demonstrate relevant experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong report planning and structuring ability with clear and concise conveyance of information.
  • Organised and efficient approach to working within tight deadlines.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and clients in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Full clean driving licence and willingness to undertake fieldwork.
  • A degree or postgraduate level education in a landscape related field (or equivalent planning, geography or similar background).
  • Proficiency in relevant software packages including ArcGIS, ReSoft Windfarm/WindPRO, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and InDesign) and SketchUp.
  • Experience or interest in learning competent photography skills.
  • Knowledge of landscape planning principles and a passion for the subject.
  • Support and sponsorship for your Pathway to Chartership (P2C) with the Landscape Institute.
