Research Chemist Student Placement

Lubrizol invites enthusiastic, motivated students to join our Blackley Research Team for a rewarding Student Placement year. This placement offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in polymer synthesis and organic chemistry within a dynamic, innovative research environment. You will contribute to new product development projects, including synthesis and application testing of novel materials against existing products, allowing you to engage with the full product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct synthesis and development of novel polymeric dispersants tailored for applications in paints, inks, and plastics.
- Perform detailed synthetic experiments, accurately maintaining an up-to-date electronic laboratory notebook.
- Communicate experimental results and findings effectively during team meetings and quarterly reviews.
- Design and execute screening tests to evaluate performance characteristics of newly synthesized materials in various application environments.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues in the research group and applications department to integrate research efforts and feedback.
