Our Compliance Team

The Compliance Team is responsible for the operation and continual improvement of the firm’s business risk management framework, monitoring regulatory changes and interpreting guidelines specific to our sector.

Job Description – Head of Regulatory Compliance

This role leads all aspects of regulatory compliance for the Firm and its associated businesses, keeping the Firm updated on regulatory changes, assessing impact, and implementing measures. Scope includes ICAEW, DFSA, FCA, and CIOT regulations.

  • Reporting to the COO, you will support the Practice Assurance Principal, Audit Compliance Principal and Ethics Principals in their roles
  • You will manage our internal CPD process and reporting
  • You will prepare the firm for managing ICAEW Practice Assurance and Audit Assurance visits
  • You will complete and submit all regulatory body returns and keep ICAEW registrations up to date
  • You will provide advice to partners on specific regulated matters as they arise
  • You will monitor, manage and implement new assurance standards
  • You will ensure we have the necessary licences in place for our business operations
  • You will plan and perform thematic and specialist compliance and assurance reviews across the business on specific regulatory topics and issues
  • You will manage relations with external compliance auditors
  • You will prepare and present regular periodic compliance and risk management reports to the Firm\'s senior management
Qualifications
  • Excellent communication and presenting skills
  • Capability of developing a comprehensive firm‑wide compliance regime, yet comfortable remaining \'sleeve‑rolled‑up\'
  • Personal drive and motivation to work autonomously
  • Proven experience in managing regulatory compliance within professional services
  • Sound understanding of legal and regulatory matters affecting chartered accountants as auditors and otherwise
  • Experience of rolling out and/or monitoring new auditing standards and compliance regimes
  • Good working knowledge of all relevant regulatory regimes impacting a firm of chartered accountants
  • Knowledge and natural curiosity for procedures and industry changes and challenges
  • Ability to manage conflict and challenging issues in a professional, assertive and proactive manner
  • Knowledge of ICAEW ethical and professional standards
  • Awareness of FCA Regulations, managing our external FCA compliance consultants
  • A policy, monitoring or auditing background
