As Director Of Professional Standards You Will
- Be recognised by the network’s member firms as the global resource for technical matters related to accounting, auditing and climate change reporting;
- Be the network’s primary representative to external organisations with respect to technical matters in the areas of accounting, auditing and climate change;
- Manage the network’s Quality Management reporting to the RBI Board and the Forum of Firms;
- Report to the CEO;
- Be present at online scheduled team meetings and sometimes physically in London when possible and appropriate;
- Attend the RBI Annual Conference and other conferences as deemed appropriate.
Oversight
The Director of Professional Standards will prepare a business plan on an annual basis outlining major tasks to be accomplished. This will be approved by the CEO (and in discussion with the board).
On a semi-annual basis, the Director will prepare a written report to the CEO outlining progress on each item set out in the business plan.
Role Responsibilities
The business plan should consider the following possible activities for the period. The percentage figures beside each activity is a rough estimate of the annual time allotment.
- To support the Audit Quality Control programme (30-40%) While this will be a fluid activity the core understanding covers the following:
- Reviewing AQC Questionnaires for completeness and follow-up with the firms;
- Review of FPQ returns;
- Provide webinar training for internal inspectors and external reviewers;
- Provide webinar training for new firms and those performing RBI AQ for the first time;
- Evaluate performance, identify matters of concern that require follow-up and initial assessment of reasonableness of Action Plans;
- Decide action on any AQC Questionnaires that are overdue;
- Review visit reports including identification of matters for follow-up and testing of the evaluation made by the reviewer;
- Reporting as necessary to the Chief Executive regarding the overall status of the programme and any specific issues identified;
- Writing letters on the results of the reviews to all firms;
- Participating in visits to agreed locations and performing on-site reviews;
- Prepare reports as necessary for the CEO and RBI Chair including advice on individual firm action plan progress;
- Be prepared to provide extra support for firms with their action plan;
- Assist in RBI reporting to the Forum of Firms;
- Prepare any changes to questionnaires for future AQC programmes especially in relation to the new ISQM standards;
- Recommend changes necessary to AQ process for subsequent year as identified during the year.
