You’ll join our 35-strong Tax Team, which manages VAT, corporate and private clients. The work is diverse and technically challenging, covering compliance and advisory projects.
You will be the first point of contact for clients and team members regarding VAT. You will provide expert VAT advice on complex matters including international transactions, VAT registrations and group structures. Advise on VAT implications for property, financial services, and cross-border trade.
You will manage a portfolio of clients, including preparing and reviewing complex VAT advisory notes and reports. You will assist the VAT compliance team with complicated VAT returns, ensuring compliance and identifying risk. You will liaise with and manage the working relationship with HMRC during client VAT inspections. You will be involved in due diligence project work and appropriate VAT structuring. You will assist with year-end VAT audit queries. Ensure clients comply with UK VAT rules and HMRC guidance. Identify risks or errors in VAT reporting and provide solutions. Monitor changes in VAT legislation and communicate implications to clients. You will support the VAT Partner on various other projects. Identify new opportunities with existing clients and take an active part in the firm’s business development activities.

- Experience in advising on VAT related matters, either in a civil service role or as a consultant in an advisory firm.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Technically proficient with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to stay calm and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Confident communicating with all levels of stakeholders within the firm.
- CTA qualified, or qualified by experience; we are willing to support the person in this role to do their VAT route CTA if they are not qualified by experience.
