An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Engineer to join a successful and fast-paced electronics manufacturing business based in Widnes. Working within a modern production facility, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of manufacturing equipment and maintaining the site's infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys fault finding, preventative maintenance and working with cutting-edge manufacturing technology.

The Role

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on a range of production equipment.
  • Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs to minimise production downtime.
  • Producing accurate and comprehensive maintenance records for traceability and compliance.
  • Liaising with external service engineers to arrange annual servicing, repairs and equipment calibration.
  • Maintaining building services including heating, electrical systems, compressed air, nitrogen and water supplies.
  • Supervising specialist contractors working on-site.
  • Managing statutory testing schedules and ensuring all associated records remain up to date.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and manufacturing efficiency.

About You

We’re looking for an organised and proactive Maintenance Engineer with a strong engineering background and excellent problem-solving skills. Ideally, you will have:

  • At least 3 years' experience maintaining manufacturing or production equipment.
  • Experience within an electronics or high-tech manufacturing environment would be highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of preventative and reactive maintenance principles.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently.

What’s on Offer

  • Salary circa £35,000, depending on experience.
  • 4-day working week – Monday to Thursday, 7:00am to 5:00pm.
  • Occasional Friday working for planned machine maintenance.
  • 20 days annual leave, increasing by one day for each completed year of service up to a maximum of 24 days, plus Bank Holidays.
  • Company pension scheme (5% employer contribution / 4% employee contribution).
