We are working with an established organisation in Trowbridge to recruit an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to provide expert, practical and commercially focused ER support to managers and employees across the site.

This is a hands-on role covering the full employee relations lifecycle, with responsibility for providing sound advice, managing complex cases and ensuring a fair, consistent and legally compliant approach to employee relations.

The Role

Reporting to the HR Manager, you will take ownership of employee relations casework from initial advice through to resolution.

You will work closely with managers, providing coaching and guidance on a wide range of ER matters, whilst ensuring company policies and UK employment legislation are consistently applied.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Managing employee relations cases from start to finish, including absence, disciplinaries, grievances, capability and performance matters.
  • Managing short- and long-term absence cases, including return-to-work meetings, phased returns, Occupational Health referrals and sickness capability processes.
  • Supporting and conducting workplace investigations, including evidence gathering, witness interviews and investigation report writing.
  • Advising managers on disciplinary and grievance processes and supporting formal hearings and appeals.
  • Coaching managers through difficult conversations and helping to achieve early and effective resolutions.
  • Providing practical advice on UK employment legislation and the ACAS Code of Practice.
  • Preparing clear and accurate ER documentation, including letters, investigation reports and outcome documentation.
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential employee relations records in line with GDPR requirements.
  • Delivering manager briefings and training on areas such as absence management, disciplinaries, grievances and performance management.
  • Producing ER data and reporting, identifying trends and contributing to continuous improvement.
  • Supporting employee wellbeing initiatives and signposting employees to appropriate wellbeing and Occupational Health support.
  • Supporting organisational change activity, including consultation and redundancy processes where required.

The role is based onsite at the Trowbridge facility and requires a visible and hands-on approach to employee relations.

About You

You will ideally have

  • Strong experience in Employee Relations or HR casework.
  • Strong practical knowledge of UK employment law and its application.
  • Experience managing disciplinaries, grievances, absence, capability and performance cases.
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations and supporting or chairing formal hearings.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing, operational or multi-site environment would be advantageous.
  • CIPD Level 5 or above, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience using HRIS/ERP systems and Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build credibility with managers and employees.
  • Strong written communication skills, particularly when preparing formal ER documentation and investigation reports.

Right to work in the UK is required.
