LTL Consultants, Ltd. has a full-time job opening for a Commercial and Residential Building Inspector and Plans Examiner. LTL provides building code services to numerous municipalities in Berks, Carbon, Chester, and Montgomery Counties.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily inspections to ensure compliance with local and state regulations.
  • Prepare reports and maintain records of inspections.
  • Issue non-compliance notices and perform follow-up code enforcement inspections.
  • Confer with and assist property and landowners, architects, and builders with proper practices and techniques of construction.
  • Respond to complaints from municipal officials, residents, and stakeholders regarding municipal codes and/or ordinances.
  • Assure that the work complies with building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, energy, and any other applicable building codes.

Qualifications

  • Formal education in the fields of building practices and construction.
  • Previous experience, preferably 2-5 years, in the Inspection Industry.
  • U.C.C. Certifications for Residential or Commercial.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to make tough decisions in the best interest of safety.
  • Ability to work with people, particularly the ability to deliver bad news to difficult people in a non-agitating manner.
  • Strong emphasis is placed on the ability to effectively communicate technical information, orally and in writing, in a professional manner to contractors, developers, property owners, employees, consultants, other governmental agency representatives, municipal officials, and the public.
