LTF Recruitment are working with a large secondary school in Long Eaton, who are looking for a competent Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their team. The role is on a long-term basis with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. The position will be full time, working Monday-Friday within class.
In this role, your key responsibilities as a HLTA will be based in and around the classroom, supporting the class teacher. This will include:
- Making sure correct behaviour is adhered to at all times
- Working with small groups and 1:1 interventions
- Covering classes in the absence of a class teacher
- Planning and running your own interventions with specific groups of children
A successful candidate will also need:
- A sound knowledge of the curriculum
- A good knowledge of strategies to best support SEN children
- Relevant degree or HLTA qualification
- 1 years’ experience within an education setting
- Understanding of various SEN needs
- Experience working 1:1
- A sound working knowledge of the National Curriculum or ability to learn content as appropriate
- Ability to effectively build relationships with children quickly
