Production Team Leader – Electrical Engineering

Are you an experienced Production Team Leader with a background in electrical engineering and a passion for leadership and operational excellence? Our client, a leading manufacturer of electrical switchgear solutions, is seeking a dynamic and proactive Production Team Leader to join their growing team in Oldham.
About the Role:
As Production Team Leader, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting the Workshop Supervisor with the day-to-day management of switchgear manufacturing operations. You\’ll lead a team of fitter/wiremen, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and productivity are maintained while actively contributing to hands-on production.
This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a key production area, embed lean manufacturing practices, and drive continuous improvement initiatives while mentoring and developing your team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, coordinate and motivate a team of fitter/wiremen to meet production deadlines and quality standards.
- Support the Workshop Supervisor in planning and delegating workloads.
- Promote and enforce a culture of health, safety and continuous improvement.
- Provide day-to-day team support, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
- Ensure all manufacturing procedures comply with internal policies and H&S regulations.
- Complete production paperwork accurately and on time.
- Champion 5S and Lean principles across your production area.
- Mentor new and existing team members, identifying and delivering training needs.
- Maintain clear communication with all levels of the business to update on progress, targets and any areas of concern.
About You:
- Proven experience in an electrical engineering workshop environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams and general arrangements.
- Experience in leading teams and driving production improvements.
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and 5S techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Confident problem solver with a calm and flexible approach.
- Positive, reliable, and trustworthy with strong attention to detail.
