An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join a growing industrial engineering business delivering complex machinery and automation projects. This role is ideal for a strong electrically biased engineer with proven experience in PLC fault finding, commissioning and industrial automation systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, commissioning and supporting a wide range of industrial machinery and systems on customer sites. Typical equipment may include conveyors, packaging machinery, automated production lines, process equipment, motors, drives, sensors, safety circuits and PLC-controlled systems. This is a site-based role and does not require regular travel to a central office location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out installation and commissioning of industrial machinery and automation systems.
- Ensure all equipment is installed, tested and commissioned to the highest standards.
- Work closely with customers to ensure systems meet technical and operational requirements.
- Diagnose and fault-find on electrical, control and PLC systems.
- Commission machinery including motors, drives, sensors, control panels and safety circuits.
- Support commissioning of PLC-controlled systems, including Siemens, Allen Bradley, Rockwell or similar platforms.
- Carry out fault finding on industrial communication networks, drives and associated equipment where required.
- Create commissioning reports, technical documentation and completion records.
- Manage commissioning activities in line with project schedules and deadlines.
- Liaise with project management, design, production and service teams.
- Support customers during testing, handover and post-installation activities.
Candidate Requirements:
- Qualifications: Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics qualification, or equivalent engineering background. Electrical qualifications highly desirable.
- Experience: Proven experience as a Commissioning Engineer within industrial or manufacturing environments. Strong electrical background with the ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics. Strong PLC fault-finding experience. Experience with Siemens, Allen Bradley, Rockwell or similar PLC platforms. Knowledge of motors, inverters, drives, sensors, relays, contactors and safety circuits. Experience commissioning industrial machinery, automated systems or process equipment. Understanding of industrial communication networks and automation systems advantageous.
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and customer-facing skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team. Strong organisational and project management skills.
