We are looking to recruit an experienced Control Panel Design Engineer to join a growing Electrical Engineering division. This role plays a key part in the design, delivery, and technical support of industrial electrical control panels, supporting projects from initial handover through to installation and commissioning.
You will be responsible for producing accurate panel designs, managing documentation, supporting production, and acting as a key technical point of contact for internal teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:- Design industrial electrical control panels in line with customer specifications and industry standards
- Produce and maintain accurate drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation
- Review and update designs based on site feedback and project changes
- Take ownership of panel projects from handover through to installation
- Provide first-line technical support to engineers, project managers, and customers (phone, email, and site-based)
- Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical specifications
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards including BS EN 61439 and BS 7671
- Support the preparation and validation of O&M manuals
- Oversee quality control throughout the panel manufacturing process
- Manage and monitor production schedules to meet delivery and quality targets
- Assist with commissioning, testing, and fault-finding of electrical and control systems
- Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in control panels and associated equipment
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to resolve technical or component issues
- Provide technical guidance and training to engineers and apprentices
- Support remote and on-site investigations during and after project handover
- Minimum 3 years' experience in electrical control panel design
- Strong understanding of BS safety and electrical standards
- Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks, or similar design software
- Ability to manage multiple panel projects simultaneously
- Experience producing BOMs, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings
