An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join a growing industrial engineering business delivering complex machinery and automation projects. This role is ideal for a strong electrically biased engineer with proven experience in PLC fault finding, commissioning and industrial automation systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, commissioning and supporting a wide range of industrial machinery and systems on customer sites. Typical equipment may include conveyors, packaging machinery, automated production lines, process equipment, motors, drives, sensors, safety circuits and PLC-controlled systems. This is a site-based role and does not require regular travel to a central office location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out installation and commissioning of industrial machinery and automation systems.
- Ensure all equipment is installed, tested and commissioned to the highest standards.
- Work closely with customers to ensure systems meet technical and operational requirements.
- Diagnose and fault-find on electrical, control and PLC systems.
- Commission machinery including motors, drives, sensors, control panels and safety circuits.
- Support commissioning of PLC-controlled systems, including Siemens, Allen Bradley, Rockwell or similar platforms.
- Carry out fault finding on industrial communication networks, drives and associated equipment where required.
- Create commissioning reports, technical documentation and completion records.
- Manage commissioning activities in line with project schedules and deadlines.
- Liaise with project management, design, production and service teams.
- Support customers during testing, handover and post-installation activities.
Candidate Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics qualification, or equivalent engineering background.
- Electrical qualifications highly desirable.
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Commissioning Engineer within industrial or manufacturing environments.
- Strong electrical background with the ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Strong PLC fault-finding experience.
- Experience with Siemens, Allen Bradley, Rockwell or similar PLC platforms.
- Knowledge of motors, inverters, drives, sensors, relays, contactors and safety circuits.
- Experience commissioning industrial machinery, automated systems or process equipment.
- Understanding of industrial communication networks and automation systems advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
