JOB PURPOSE

The Senior HR Advisor supports the HR Manager in delivering an efficient, effective, and compliant HR service. The role provides professional, confidential, and proactive HR support across the organisation, ensuring consistent application of policies, supporting employee relations cases, and contributing to continuous improvement of HR processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Employee Relations
    • Provide timely, accurate advice on HR policies, procedures, and employment law.
    • Support and manage ER cases, including sickness, disciplinary, grievance, capability, and performance matters.
    • Attend and support formal meetings, hearings, and investigations.
    • Comply with Health & Safety requirements and maintain a tidy working environment.
  • Learning & Development
    • Identify training needs through performance discussions and ER cases.
    • Support the coordination and delivery of training activities.
  • Policy & Process Improvement
    • Assist in updating HR policies and procedures to reflect legal and best-practice standards.
    • Contribute to HR projects aimed at enhancing service delivery.
  • Performance & Development
    • Support performance management processes including objective setting, probation reviews, and development planning.
  • General HR Duties
    • Respond to routine HR queries from employees and managers.
    • Support wellbeing, engagement, and wider HR initiatives.
    • Provide cover for the HR Manager as required.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Previous experience as an HR Advisor or Senior HR Advisor.
  • Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Experience managing complex employee relations cases.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
  • Experience using HR Information Systems (HRIS).
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • CIPD Level 5 or equivalent HR qualification (minimum).

OTHER INFORMATION

  • Part‑time hours : 22.5 hours per week, worked as 3 full days or 5 days at 4.5 hours per day.
  • A DBS check is required due to the nature of the work.
  • Employment is subject to satisfactory references.
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.
