We are looking for a Service Engineer to join our growing service team. You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing recycling equipment on both a scheduled and reactive basis, ensuring high standards of work and outstanding customer service. You’ll work closely with the Service Planning Supervisor, Technical Manager, and Operations Director to ensure safe and efficient delivery of service.
Key Responsibilities for the service engineer:
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance on recycling equipment
- Work within customer SLA (Service Level Agreement) requirements
- Communicate effectively with the Service Planning and Field Supervisors
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, time on site, and parts used
- Diagnose faults using hydraulic and electrical diagrams and testing equipment
- Support the sales team by passing on any potential business leads
- Occasionally work outside of your area or stay overnight when required
- Ensure compliance with company health & safety policies and procedures
- Maintain van stock levels and ensure PPE, tools, and vehicle are kept in good condition
What we need from candidate:
- Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems
- Experience reading and interpreting technical circuit diagrams
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own schedule
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Qualifications:
- City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Experience using electrical and hydraulic test equipment
- Familiarity with single and three-phase systems
- Background in waste, plant, recycling, or similar equipment servicing
