Location: On-site – Cambridgeshire

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Instrumentation and Electrical Design engineer to join our engineering team. In this hands-on role, you will support the design and production of electrical and instrumentation documentation, working closely with Control Engineers to develop high-quality drawings using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical. You will be instrumental in producing P&IDs, control panel GAs, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, hook-up drawings, Boolean logic schematics, and more.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and analyse customer specifications and project documentation
  • Create and revise drawings using AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical, including:
  • P&IDs
  • Wiring diagrams
  • Control panel GAs (Local and PLC panels)
  • Loop and hook-up drawings
  • Boolean logic diagrams
  • Assist Controls Engineers in developing Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Support workshop personnel with design clarifications and updates during production
  • Review and incorporate customer comments and mark-ups
  • Produce accurate as-built documentation
  • Conduct drawing checks for accuracy and compliance
  • Use MS Office and web-based systems to manage project files and communications
  • About You

    • Qualification in Engineering (Electrical/Instrumentation preferred) or equivalent industry experience
    • Proven experience with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical
    • Demonstrated ability to produce accurate, comprehensive electrical and control system drawings
    • Experience with control panels, wiring layouts, and instrumentation design
    • P&ID creation experience is highly desirable
    • Excellent time management and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
    • Self-motivated, assertive, and confident in your technical abilities
    • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team

    Additional Requirements

    • Must hold a full, valid UK driving licence
    • Willing to attend on-site workshops when required
