We have a great opportunity available to join Novus Cambria, our prison education provider at HMP Berwyn, working as a Vocational Trainer in Joinery. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

HMP Prison Berwyn is a Category C prison in Wrexham County Borough, Wales. It accommodates a male population. It is the largest prison in the UK, opened in 2017, and is operated by His Majesty's Prison Service. The prison’s aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe at all times. The prison’s mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
To be successful in this role, you will need to:
- Hold a minimum L3 qualification in relevant, subject specific area (Joinery)
- Hold a minimum L3 teaching qualification, e.g. AET, PTTLS or equivalent
- Hold at least a level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
- Hold, or commit to gain within 1 year, an appropriate Assessor qualification (TAQA 3, A1, or equivalent)
- Demonstrate an ability to speak fluent Welsh (Desirable)
- Demonstrate a good working knowledge of subject specific area (Joinery)
- Have knowledge of effective teaching, learning and assessment methods
- Have knowledge of behaviour management strategies
- Have a working knowledge of Awarding Body digital systems, e.g. Walled Garden (Desirable)
- Have experience of a range of delivery and assessment methods within subject areas (Desirable)
- Have industry experience within appropriate vocational sector (Joinery)
- Have experience of working within a prison, further education or training setting (Desirable)
- Demonstrate an ability to fulfil delivery targets, KPIs and plans
- Demonstrate an ability to deliver information to groups, differentiating according to the needs of the audience
- Have good communication skills, oral and written
- Demonstrate an ability to co-operate and share work with others, positive team working
- Demonstrate an ability to produce accurate and timely reports
- Have excellent time management skills
