We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Five Wells, working as a Creative Writing Teacher. This position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37hrs per week.
As a Creative Writing Teacher, you will design and run engaging sessions to facilitate learning across a broad range of levels, as follows:
- Stretching and challenging high-level learners to refine their craft and explore advanced writing techniques.
- Sparking interest and confidence in lower-level learners, helping them discover the joy of storytelling and self-expression.
- Creating a supportive, inclusive classroom that encourages imagination and personal growth.
To be successful in this role, you will need to:
- Design and deliver engaging Creative Writing sessions to support and develop key writing skills amongst the prison population.
- Have experience or a qualification relevant to Creative Writing (Desirable).
- Achieve performance and quality targets.
- Produce accurate and timely reporting.
- Demonstrate positive team working.
- Have experience of conducting assessments and supporting learning of individuals and groups.
- Have experience of working with groups of learners with a range of abilities.
- Have experience of successful working in an effective multi-disciplinary team.
- Have experience creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners.
- A good track record achieving quality targets.
- Hold a teaching qualification and, where applicable, a relevant subject specialist qualification – with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months.
- Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.
