Are you passionate about inspiring the next generation of tradespeople and reducing reoffending? We are looking for an enthusiastic Construction Teacher to join our vibrant prison education team at HMP Risley. In this role, you will bring industry skills to life by leading hands-on sessions in topics such as health and safety, carpentry, brickwork, or plumbing. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

Site Information: HMP Risley is a Category C Male prison, located in the Risely area of Warrington, Cheshire. The team's aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe, and where causes of prison stress are minimised. The prison’s mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience: To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Hold a teaching qualification and, where applicable, a relevant subject specialist qualification - or demonstrate a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months
  • Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Have relevant industry experience and/or qualifications (i.e. Bricklaying, Plastering, Joinery, Carpentry)
  • Achieve performance and quality targets
  • Produce accurate and timely reporting
  • Demonstrate positive team working
  • Have experience of conducting assessments and supporting learning of individuals and groups
  • Have experience of working with groups of learners with a range of abilities
  • Have experience of successful working in an effective multi-disciplinary team
  • Have experience creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners
  • A good track record achieving quality targets
