We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Wakefield, working as a Library Support Officer. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

HMP Wakefield is a Category A high-security prison for adult men, located in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. Established in 1594 as a house of correction, it is one of the oldest operating prisons in England and Wales. The site forms part of the long-term high-security estate and houses individuals convicted of serious offences. It has a capacity of around 750 prisoners, with a current population of approximately 630, including about 148 Category A inmates.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • To hold Level 3 Library and Information Services qualification or be willing to work towards achieving within an agreed timescale
  • To hold Level 2 qualifications in literacy, numeracy
  • Experience of working in a customer facing role
  • High Attention to detail
  • Effective communication & inter-personal skills
  • IT skills, working with Microsoft Office and/or management data systems
  • Logical and organised

35 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays, 2 hours for wellbeing / personal development per week, significant pension contributions, retail discounts, employee assistance program, cycle to work scheme.
