We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Full Sutton, working as a Teacher. This role is offered on a 6 month fixed term contract, part‑time basis, working Wednesday and Thursday.

Who are Novus? Novus are a leading provider of prison education and have been supporting men, women, and children of all ages for over 30 years across the UK to take new directions. We are currently rated “Good” by Ofsted and have partnerships with over 1000 industry and employer partners, ensuring our learners secure their place as the movers and shakers of the future.

Site Information: HMP Full Sutton is a Category A high‑security prison located in East Yorkshire, approximately 11 miles from York. It accommodates around 600 adult male prisoners, many of whom are serving long‑term or life sentences. The prison offers a structured and secure environment where education plays a vital role in rehabilitation. Learners are supported through a range of educational and vocational programmes.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience: To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Hold a teaching qualification and, where applicable, a relevant subject specialist qualification – with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months
  • Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Have experience in creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners
  • Have a previous track record showing achievement of quality targets
  • Have successfully produced accurate and timely reports
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Can motivate and enthuse learners
  • Have organisational skills to prioritise workload to meet deadlines and targets
  • Demonstrate positive team working
