We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Stafford, working as a Plastering Teacher. This position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

Site Information: HMP Stafford, a notable Category C men’s prison, is situated in Stafford, Staffordshire. Established in 1793, the prison has evolved significantly over the centuries. The prison offers extensive support and educational programs aimed at reducing reoffending rates.
Role Responsibilities: In this role, you will work with, and be supported by, our amazing team of dedicated professionals to mentor our learners and help them to secure future employment opportunities post-release. You will need patience, passion, flexibility and understanding in your approach to our learners, who have ‘hit a bump in the road’ but want to learn and improve.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience: To be successful in this role, you will need to:
- Hold a teaching qualification and, where applicable, relevant subject specialist qualification in Plastering - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months.
- Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.
- Have experience creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners.
- Have a good previous track record of achieving quality targets.
- Have willingness to engage with and produce accurate and timely reports.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Have an ability to motivate and enthuse learners in the subject matter.
- Demonstrate good organisational skills to prioritise workload and meet deadlines/targets.
- Advocate for and engage consistently in positive team working.
