Are you passionate about using music technology to inspire creativity, confidence, and positive change in young people? We’re looking for a creative, dedicated, and enthusiastic Music Technology Tutor to join our vibrant team within the Young People’s Unit at HMP Parc. In this rewarding role, you’ll deliver engaging and practical lessons that introduce learners to music production, recording, digital audio, and creative sound design, helping them develop valuable skills, self-expression, and future-focused aspirations. If you’re committed to making learning accessible, motivating learners in a secure setting, and supporting young people to reach their potential, we’d love to hear from you.

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus Gower, our prison education provider at HMP Parc, working as a Music Technology Tutor. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 40 hours per week within the Young People’s unit.

At Novus Gower, we work with passion, care, and commitment to create the foundations for change. We have been supporting men, women and children of all ages and abilities within prison educational settings across England and Wales for decades. We operate numerous hubs across the United Kingdom, where our specialist teams are on hand to support adults and children to improve their employability prospects post-release.

HMP Parc Prison is a Category B men's prison located in Bridgend, Wales. The prison accommodates individuals who have been convicted of various offenses requiring secure custody and rehabilitation. The prison’s aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe at all times. The prison’s mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.

As a Music Technology Tutor, you will develop and deliver high-quality, learner-focused sessions that introduce young people to skills such as creative music production, recording, digital audio, and sound design. You will support learners to build confidence, develop practical skills, and express themselves creatively, while working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve the best possible outcomes within a secure education setting.

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Hold a teaching qualification and, where applicable, a relevant subject specialist qualification – with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months
  • Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Have relevant industry knowledge, experience or qualifications in the subject
  • Have experience of creating stimulating and vibrant environments conducive to learning
  • Have experience of achieving quality targets
  • Have experience of producing accurate and timely reports
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrate an ability to motivate and enthuse learners
  • Have excellent organisational skills to prioritise workload, and meet deadlines and targets
  • Commit to positive teamworking

While the above criteria are categorised as essential, applicants with relevant skills and experience may be considered without holding all qualifications listed. Support to gain qualifications in‑post may be available, subject to eligibility and funding conditions.

As part of the Novus Gower family, colleagues benefit from an excellent package including:

  • 33 days annual leave, inclusive of bank holidays
  • Significant Pension contributions (Aviva Auto-Enrolment Pension)
  • Retail Discounts
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Cycle to Work Scheme

Novus Gower is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All applicants will be required to undergo an appropriate DBS check via the Criminal Records Bureau. Due to the educational aspect of our group some roles are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and would require an Enhanced DBS check and may be subject to additional online checks as part of our pre‑screening process.
