We are seeking a knowledgeable and creative Lecturer in prosthetics and special effects to deliver high-quality teaching across our Special Effects Make‑Up Artistry provision on a permanent, part time (14 hours per week) basis. This is based at our City Centre Campus.

The successful candidate will have strong industry and/or teaching experience, with proficiency in direct applied special effects techniques, prosthetic construction and advanced chemical handling. They will inspire and support students in developing practical, technical, and creative skills; underpinning all these skills with specialist theoretical knowledge. Preparing them for progression into further study or careers within the special effects make‑up and prosthetic construction industries.

The ability to deliver lessons that accommodate a diverse range of learning needs and abilities is essential. Experience in working with education support professionals to ensure every student is supported to achieve their academic milestones is also advantageous. Strong communication skills are a must, and your ability to relate your knowledge with passion in a variety of ways will be key to supporting student success. In addition, an ability to complete administration tasks to support effective teaching would be advantageous.

There are a number of different professional valued skillsets within the course delivery. Successful applicants ideally would be able to demonstrate high level professional skills and experience of some/a range of the following:

• Introductory principles, character and background design and client briefs.
• Direct applied techniques.
• Mould making— including silicone, resin and fibreglass.
• Complex prosthetic application and finishing.
• Knowledge of digital design or sculpting programmes would be advantageous.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

• Degree.
• Current and valid industry specialism.
• Certificate of education or PGCE.
• English and maths minimum level 2 Grace Cor grade 4 and above.
• Significant Experience of delivering outstanding teaching and learning.
• Proven track record of high‑quality teaching in delivering subject specialism or current valid industry specialism.
• Working as a team.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Meet delivery targets and plans.
• Accurate and timely reports and records.
• Positive contribution to planning processes.
• Proven track record of positive student satisfaction.
