We have an exciting opportunity at our City Campus to join our Performing Arts Department as an Acting Teacher on a fixed-term (Maternity Cover), part time (21 hours per week) basis. As an Acting Teacher you will provide supervision of your curriculum area, ensuring that you meet budget, quality, and operational targets. You will deliver high quality, learner-focused education providing a secure and friendly environment in order for your students to succeed. In your role you will plan, lead, and develop the curriculum area within the establishment to ensure compliance with the national curriculum framework, the integration of functional skills, best practice, and quality targets.

Start your teaching journey with us! We welcome applications from aspiring teachers who are passionate about sharing their industry skills. At The Manchester College, you will be supported by our Teaching Academy to work towards qualified teacher status for post 16 compulsory education, through a Cert Ed/PGCE. This includes 3-4 hours delivery per week and engagement with a mentor to support your progress in the profession while you work. The starting salary for an unqualified teacher is between £30,750 - £32,931. It’s a great way to kick-start a rewarding career with full training and support. Once you’ve successfully qualified and demonstrated your teaching competence, you’ll progress to the qualified teacher salary banding. Consideration will be given to relevant industry experience and skills with the flexibility to offer increased starting salaries in some circumstances.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience: To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Certificate of education or PGCE.
  • Current and valid industry specialism.
  • Assessor qualifications (if required by Awarding Organisation).
  • Minimum Level 3 occupational qualification.
  • English and maths minimum level 2 Grade C or grade 4 and above.
