We’re searching for an exceptional Deputy Local Education Manager to join our Local Education Manager in leading our innovative and dedicated team! Take a leading role in shaping our educational vision, implementing cutting-edge practices, and ensuring our students receive the highest quality education to reach their full potential! We have a great opportunity available to join Novus Transforming Lives, our prison education provider at HMP Forest Bank, working as a Deputy Local Education Manager. This position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 40hrs per week.

We are currently rated “Good” by Ofsted and have partnerships with over 1000 industry and employer partners, ensuring our learners secure their place as the movers and shakers of the future. Our business is growing year on year due to our continued success as a leading provider in prison education.

Site Information: HMP Forest Bank is located in Pendlebury in Salford, Greater Manchester. The prison is a Category B Male Prison that accommodates remand and sentenced offenders. It offers a diverse range of education opportunities and employment support. Individuals can work towards nationally recognised qualifications.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience: To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate an ability to motivate and enthuse teams
  • Utilise organisational skills to prioritise workload, and meet challenging deadlines and targets
  • Analyse trends and identify impact on curriculum
  • Employ good IT and contract management skills
  • Work closely with the Local Education Manager to develop, lead and manage a team effectively, and appropriately delegate tasks
  • Implement and manage continuous quality assurance and improvement procedures
  • Demonstrate successful partnership working

Previous experience working within a secure environment, and/or with learners with challenging behaviour (Desirable)

Hold a teaching qualification – minimum Cert Ed or PGCE

Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy

Hold a Leadership and Management qualification at Level 4 or above, or equivalent work experience and skills (Desirable)

Hold a degree or equivalent level qualification (Desirable)
