We’re looking for an Assessor to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis (37 hours per week). This is a primarily remote role, with occasional, pre-planned travel within the UK.
Total People are a specialist training provider delivering professional HR qualifications accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development at Levels 3, 5 and 7. Our learners are working professionals balancing study alongside full-time roles, so high-quality, flexible support is central to what we do.
This role focuses on assessment, feedback, and learner support. You’ll use your HR knowledge to evaluate assignments, guide learners, and help maintain the quality and credibility of our qualifications.

What you’ll be doing:
- Mark and assess HR-related assignments using clear, standardised criteria
- Provide timely, constructive, and actionable feedback to support learner progress
- Support learners through 1:1 tutorials (phone/video), email, and our online learning platform
- Monitor learner engagement and follow up where submissions are missed or require resubmission
- Ensure consistency, fairness, and accuracy across all marking activity
- Maintain accurate assessment records and meet agreed turnaround times
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to resolve assessment queries and maintain quality standards
- Contribute to ongoing quality assurance processes and continuous improvement
What we’re looking for:
Essential:
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to give clear and developmental feedback
- Good working knowledge of HR principles and practices
- A Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development qualification, or willingness to work towards one (support available—please ask at interview)
- Understanding of the demands of part-time study alongside employment
- Commitment to continuing professional development
Desirable:
- Experience marking assessments or providing structured feedback
- Teaching, tutoring, or coaching experience
- Relevant degree (HR, Business, Education, or similar)
- Assessor or internal quality assurance qualifications
