We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Altcourse, working as a Functional Skills Teacher. This role is offered on a 12-month fixed-term, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

Site Information: HMP Altcourse is a category B local prison, situated in the Fazakerley area of Liverpool in Merseyside, England. The prison receives sentenced and on-remand adult male prisoners, as well as young offenders. The prison’s aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe. The prison’s mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience: To be successful in this role, you will need to:
- Hold a teaching qualification and where applicable, relevant subject specialist qualification – with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months
- Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
- Have experience in creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners
- Have previous track record showing achievement of quality targets
- Have successfully produced accurate and timely reports
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Can motivate and enthuse learners
- Have organisational skills to prioritise workload to meet deadlines and targets
- Demonstrate positive team working
