We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Stafford, working as a Learning and Support Worker. This position is offered on a full‑time basis, working 37 hours per week for a fixed term duration of 6 months.

Site Information
HMP Stafford, a notable Category C men’s prison, is situated in Stafford, Staffordshire. Established in 1793, the prison has evolved significantly over the centuries. Initially designed to house a variety of offenders, it has been reclassified multiple times to meet changing demands. The prison’s capacity is approximately 751, with most inmates serving sentences ranging from two to four years. The prison offers extensive support and educational programmes aimed at reducing re‑offending rates.

To be successful in this role, you will need to:
- Understand how people learn and methods that can be used to enhance a learning experience
- Have a track record of working effectively with people presenting with challenging behaviour
- Show effective communication & interpersonal and IT skills
- Hold a Hidden Difficulties Level 2 qualification or equivalent (or be willing to work towards within an agreed timeframe)
- Hold Level 2 qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy (or be willing to work towards within an agreed timeframe)
- Have experience of conducting assessments and supporting learning of individuals and groups (Desirable)
- Have experience of working with groups of learners with a range of abilities (Desirable)
- Have experience of successful working in an effective multi‑disciplinary team (Desirable)
