We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Featherstone, working as a Construction Teacher. This position is offered on a full time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week. The successful candidate will have qualifications and / or experience within Construction industry, and be responsible for delivering Tiling, Plastering and Bricklaying qualifications up to Level 2.

Site Information
HMP Featherstone is a Category C men’s prison situated near Wolverhampton in Staffordshire, England. The teams’ aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe, and where causes of prison stress are minimised. The prison’s mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need to :
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Have the passion and ability to motivate and enthuse learners
- Utilise organisational skills to prioritise workload and meet deadlines and targets
- Be committed to positive team working
- Have experience of creating stimulating, vibrant environments, which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners
- Have a track record of achieving quality targets and producing accurate and timely reports
- Hold a teaching qualification and, where applicable, a relevant subject specialist qualification – with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months
- Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
- A background within Construction Health and Safety is desirable, but not essential
