We have an exciting opportunity to join our Student Experience and Support Department as a Careers & Welfare Coordinator on a permanent, full-time (35 hours per week) basis. The role will be based at both our Openshaw and Harpurhey campus.

We are seeking a proactive and compassionate Careers & Welfare Coordinator to join our dynamic college support team. In this pivotal role, you will co-ordinate and deliver an informed, effective advice, guidance, and welfare service to both individuals and groups of learners. You will play a key part in supporting enrolment, retention, progression, and achievement through targeted interventions. Working collaboratively with curriculum, admin, finance, and wider support services, you will help coordinate impactful events and learner activities. This is a fantastic opportunity to enhance student experience, build employer and stakeholder relationships, and make a meaningful difference to learner success across The Manchester College.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Level 6 Career qualification or a minimum of a Level 4 Qualification in Guidance, willing to work towards a Level 6 qualification
  • Numeracy and Literacy skills (to level 2 or equivalent)
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of working in the Career and Guidance industry
  • Knowledge and understanding of a wide range of occupational, student finance and welfare matters and their implications for clients
  • Ability to deal sensitively, flexibly and with empathy with clients from a range of cultural, ethnic and welfare backgrounds
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Good IT skills using a range of software packages
  • Excellent Data handling and analysis skills
  • Research skills and the ability to create materials/resources for delivery to clients
  • Ability to manage own workflow and effective time-management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-college teams and establish positive relationships
  • Ability to train and develop others within the team
