Novus Gower is a leading prison education provider, recruiting a Cleaning Instructor to deliver an entry-level, industry-recognised qualification for learners looking to start out in cleaning roles. Trainer or teaching experience is preferred but not essential. You’ll need relevant hands-on experience across the safe handling of cleaning materials and equipment, hygiene, and health & safety, along with a passion for sharing your knowledge and supporting learners to build confidence, aid rehabilitation, and improve future employability.

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus Gower, our prison education provider at HMP Parc, working as a Cleaning Instructor. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 40 hours per week.

Site Information: HMP Parc Prison is a Category B men’s prison located in Bridgend, Wales. The prison accommodates individuals who have been convicted of various offenses requiring secure custody and rehabilitation. The prison’s mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.

Role Responsibilities: Please see the attached role profile for an overview of general role responsibilities. Specific details pertaining to the role are shared during the interview process.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Hold a qualification to allow the delivery of accreditation in the relevant vocational area to Level 3, or commit to gaining this subject-specific qualification within 2 years.
  • Hold an Assessor award required by Awarding Bodies, or commit to gaining it within 1 year.
  • Hold a PTLLS qualification, or be willing to gain it within 6 months.
  • Hold or commit to gaining an Internal Verifier award within 1 year (dependent upon course accreditation requirements).
  • Hold at least a Level 1 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy, or commit to gaining it within 1 year.
  • Have at least 2 years’ experience in the relevant vocational area.
