Maths Teacher in Birmingham

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Birmingham, working as a Maths Teacher. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

Site Information: HMP Birmingham is situated in Winson Green, close to the centre of the city and is a category B prison for remand and sentenced adult males. The teams' aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe, and where causes of prison stress are minimised. The prison’s mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience: To be successful in this role, you will need to:

• Hold a teaching qualification and, where applicable, relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months.
• Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.
• Understand or have experience of creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners.
• Have a good previous track record of achieving quality targets, producing accurate and timely reports, and positive team working.
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills, as well as good IT skills.
• Have passion for the subject and an ability to motivate and enthuse learners in the subject matter.
• Demonstrate good organisational skills to prioritise workload and meet deadlines/targets.
