Outreach Tutor / Outreach Teacher (One-to-One Support)

Location: Students across Essex, Keep local to your location. Tutoring areas include Braintree, Colchester, Clacton, Chelmsford, Halstead, Harlow, Ingatestone, Loughton, Maldon, Manningtree, Saffron Walden, Southend, Witham and Tiptree.

Pay: £20 - £23 per hour (Unqualified) | £25 - £30 per hour (Qualified Teachers/Outreach Tutors)

Schedule: Monday to Friday | AM, PM, or Full Day availability from 9:30am | Term-Time Only

Commitment: Minimum 10 hours per week (typically 2 hours per day)

We are seeking compassionate, dedicated Outreach Tutors and Teachers to deliver one-to-one and small group sessions across Essex. This highly rewarding role supports students who are currently unable to access mainstream education due to a variety of needs including anxiety, behavioural challenges, SEND, SEMH, or those at risk of exclusion.

Working in pupils' homes, local libraries, or schools, you will have the opportunity to help students build confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve meaningful educational outcomes in core subjects such as English, Maths, PSHE, as well as through interventions and mentoring.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored, one-to-one sessions for students ranging from EYFS to Year 11 (up to GCSE/Functional Skills level). Students are mainstream, SEN or SEMH.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students and families.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs and styles.
  • Support not only academic growth but also emotional resilience and confidence.
  • Keep accurate session records and progress notes.
  • Incorporate a variety of learning tools and resources to enhance engagement.

Requirements:

  • Qualified or experienced Outreach Tutors/Teachers with a strong grasp of Maths and Literacy.
  • Proven experience working with young people, particularly those with SEND, SEMH, or non-traditional learning needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Empathy, resilience, and a genuine commitment to student success.
  • Flexibility and initiative in adapting to different environments and student needs.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply - support provided).
  • The right to work in the UK.
