Peterborough
Direct Contract – ASAP until December (potential for extension)
8:00am-4:00pm
£20-25 per hour PAYE depending on experience
Our partner client is a GOOD primary school in Peterborough, whom due to retirement are seeking an interim SBM for the autumn term.
We are seeking a School Business Manager who is both professionally qualified and committed to ongoing development. The ideal candidate will hold strong academic foundations, with GCSEs in English and Mathematics as a minimum, and ideally a specialist qualification in finance, HR, or school business management. Evidence of continued professional learning is essential, demonstrating a proactive approach to staying up to date with best practice in education, finance, and operational leadership.
We are looking for someone with proven experience in managing budgets, resources, and systems effectively, ideally within a school or academy setting. A clear understanding of working in a school, alongside practical knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety, HR processes, and data protection, will be vital. Good planning and organisational skills are required, particularly in managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines with accuracy and efficiency.
The successful person will be professional, approachable, and resilient, able to communicate clearly and foster strong, positive relationships with staff, parents, and the wider community. They will have the ability to enthuse and motivate others, act with discretion and integrity, and remain calm under pressure. Specific Responsibilities
- Managing budgets, resources and systems
- Using Arbor, iPlicit, IMP Planner, MyConcern and ParentPay
- Supporting 2 Form Entry School and Nursery. 415 on roll
Qualifications & Requirements
- Strong academic foundations with GCSEs in English and Mathematics (minimum)
- Ideally a specialist qualification in finance, HR, or school business management
- Evidence of continued professional learning and up-to-date knowledge of best practice in education, finance, and operational leadership
- Proven experience in managing budgets, resources and systems, ideally within a school or academy
- Practical knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety, HR processes, and data protection
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Professional, approachable, resilient communication style; ability to foster positive relationships with staff, parents and the wider community
- Ability to enthuse, motivate, act with discretion and integrity, and remain calm under pressure
