About the opportunity
LT Selection is recruiting for a North West training provider seeking an employer-focused business development professional to grow its apprenticeship provision across the care and education sector. You will build relationships with employers, understand their workforce development needs and turn suitable opportunities into apprenticeship starts. The role combines new business development, account management and a coordinated handover to recruitment, enrolment and delivery colleagues.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and engage prospective employers, building a pipeline of apprenticeship opportunities through targeted outreach, referrals, networking and local partnerships.
- Meet employers to understand recruitment needs and opportunities to develop existing staff through appropriate apprenticeship programmes.
- Present the provider’s agreed apprenticeship offer clearly, helping employers understand programme expectations and referring detailed funding and eligibility questions to the appropriate colleagues.
- Develop proposals and follow up opportunities from initial conversation through employer commitment and coordinated onboarding.
- Work with recruitment, enrolment and delivery teams to match suitable apprentices to employer opportunities and support timely, well-prepared starts.
- Manage and develop employer accounts, maintain strong relationships and identify repeat business and workforce development opportunities.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts and follow-up plans, reporting on employer activity, pipeline conversion and apprenticeship starts against agreed targets.
- Build productive relationships and represent the provider at employer events and networking meetings.
- Keep business development activity aligned with approved apprenticeship provision, delivery capacity, learner suitability and quality requirements.
About you
- Experience in apprenticeships business development, employer engagement or employer account management within the training and skills sector.
- Evidence of generating employer opportunities and converting them into apprenticeship starts or comparable apprenticeship business outcomes.
- Ability to identify workforce needs, communicate an appropriate training offer and build lasting employer relationships.
- Understanding of the apprenticeship recruitment and onboarding journey, with the ability to work closely with enrolment, delivery and compliance colleagues.
- Confidence managing a sales pipeline, using CRM systems and producing accurate activity and performance forecasts.
- Strong communication, organisation and follow-up skills, with the ability to travel to local employers and events.
What success looks like
A growing pipeline of suitable employers, apprenticeship starts supported by clear employer commitment, repeat business and reliable reporting. Targets will be agreed against the provider’s apprenticeship offer and delivery capacity.
